Service Centre Technician
Responsible for installing, repairing and servicing tires, wheels and/or batteries on customers vehicles, as assigned by Supervisor/Manager, according to established procedures and practices in a prompt, professional manner. Also responsible for balancing wheels and performing wheel alignments.
Responsible for installing, repairing and servicing tires, wheels and/or batteries on customers vehicles, as assigned by Supervisor/Manager, according to established procedures and practices in a prompt, professional manner. Also responsible for balancing wheels and performing wheel alignments.
- Promptly and carefully process work orders as assigned by Supervisor/Manager, for tyre repairs, wheel balancing, tyre and wheel installations, wheel alignment or other tyre related tasks.
- Promptly and carefully process work orders as assigned by Supervisor/Manager, for battery testing, servicing and installation, including obtaining vehicle information required for warranty and entering information to the computer system.
- Perform vehicle inspection on completion of a job to (a) verify that all work requested has been completed satisfactory, (b) confirm that vehicle wheel tool fits new rims, (c) vehicle is clear and free of equipment or obstructions to leave bay.
- Inspections on completion that Service renders are to customer’s satisfaction.
- Perform duties in a safe manner and wearing required protective safety equipment as required by standard operating procedures.
- Acquire and maintain thorough knowledge of tyre repair, tyre mounting and dismounting, wheel balancing and wheel alignment techniques and mechanical procedures. In addition, knowledge of operating procedures of tyre changing, wheel balancing equipment and wheel alignment equipment.
- Acquire and maintain thorough knowledge of battery applications, testing and installations procedures.
- Ensure that service centre floor, worktop, wall hoists, tyre changing equipment and wheel balancing equipment are neat and clean at all times. Includes ensuring that damaged or replaced tyres, rims and other disposable mechanical parts are collected or removed in a timely manner.
- Clean equipment and tools and maintaining them in proper working order as per operating procedures. Includes daily draining of air water traps, lubrication of air tools and equipment and replenishing fuel in forklift.
- Ensure that wheel weights, patches, solvents, battery electrolytes etc. are stocked at all times. Includes taking inventory, identifying missing stock, restocking products and placing timely replenishment requests with Supervisor/Manager.
- Fulfill other responsibilities or tasks as assigned by the Retail Store Coordinator.
